Go Kart enthusiasts young and old can now enjoy a longer straight, new passing opportunities and a smoother ride at the recently upgraded Central Highlands Regional Karting Complex, made possible by the Allan Labor Government.

Member for Ripon Martha Haylett today joined representatives from the Ballarat Kart Club, Karting Victoria and Karting Australia in Haddon to officially unveil the new track upgrades, backed by a $231,000 investment from the Allan Labor Government’s Community Motorsport Program.

Since the 1960s the club has been the centre of all-things go karting in the Ballarat district providing an important base for young drivers aiming to kickstart a career in motorsport.

Upgrades included a significant track extension and a pit lane re-location to help remove on and offtrack bottlenecks, as well as improved safety measures to create a new layout for drivers and officials.

The facility can now host more training and development programs, come and try days as well more events each year including this weekend’s Round Two of the Victorian Country Series.

The Community Motorsport Program is part of the Allan Labor Government’s $7.4m Racing Into a New Era for Motorsport initiative, aimed at addressing gaps in motorsport infrastructure and equipment, training volunteers and officials, supporting young motorsport participants and facilitating more women and girls to get involved.

The program also reflects the Allan Labor Government’s major commitment to health and wellbeing, economic activity and local jobs, diversity, inclusion, and boosting the capacity of communities to attract and host local and regional motorsport competitions and events.

Martha Haylett MP acknowledged the Ballarat Kart Club for its $52,000 contribution to the project.
